NSW: Second fire hits Blue Mountains
SYDNEY, Dec 5 AAP - A second fire has broken out in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney.
Fire officials were concerned the latest blaze, in the Megalong Valley near ShipleyPlateau, was moving towards residential properties.
NSW Fire Commissioner Phil Koperberg said the fire, which was moving west towards Blackheath,could devastate the surrounding regions.
Mr Koperberg said all the fires burning across NSW were becoming more active, withthe strongest winds expected between 3pm and 5pm.
"All of the fires are beginning to become more active now, certainly around Glenorie," he said.
"All of the fire lines are under the influence of a north-westerly wind."
On the central coast, the fire front reached Mangrove Mountain, west of Gosford, andwas threatening several properties.
The Glenorie fire in Sydney's north-west continues to rage despite back burning thismorning and was threatening outlining properties in Arcadia.
